SPGB Architects and Maraye Design Studio have partnered to renovate classrooms on the campus of Wright State University. Over the summer of 2015, interviews were conducted with both faculty and students to identify the advantages and deficiencies in the current classrooms. The findings were used to inform the renovation of a variety of different classrooms. Two prototype classrooms were renovated, bringing these outdated classrooms into the 21st Century using an array of different architectural solutions such as new lighting, glass marker boards and carpet throughout. In turn, these prototype classrooms were then evaluated in order to develop guidelines for all future classroom designs. The next phases of design are slated to be completed by summer 2016.
